Staff

The staff includes architects, engineers and computer scientists with experience on a broad range of projects. As a UO research center, the lab can also draw on other university faculty in physics; planning, public policy and management; business; economics; landscape architecture; architecture; and other research groups as necessary to address the unique requirements of each project.

Charlie Brown Brown is the founding director of the Energy Studies in Buildings Laboratory at the University of Oregon and a nationally recognized educator, author, and researcher on daylighting and energy use in buildings. He has been a UO faculty member since 1977 and has conducted workshops and consults frequently. Brown has authored or coauthored books, software applications, and more than 100 papers and reports. He has been a Fulbright scholar in Norway and in Nigeria. Brown received the U.S. Green Buildings Council 2005 Leadership Award in research for his work on sustainable building practices. He was elected into the College of Fellows of The American Institute of Architects in 2006.
