The Legal Implications of Japanese American Internment: Then and Now
Speaker: Peggy Nagae Lead attorney on the Minoru Yasui Supreme Court appeal, former Assistant Dean, University of Oregon Law School, Principal, Peggy Nagae Consulting Peggy Nagae was the lead attorney in reopening the Yasui v. United States Supreme Court case in the 1980s. In 1996 she was appointed by President Clinton to serve on the Civil Liberties Public Education Fund Board, where 3.5 million dollars was distributed to individuals and organizations so that the tragedy of the Japanese American incarceration would not be repeated. She began her career as a trial attorney in Portland, served as Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Oregon School of Law, then became a lawyer and law firm administrator at a Seattle litigation firm. Her expertise is in leadership development programs, which she has fostered for over 17 years at peggynagae consulting.
