This Environmental RIG provides an opportunity for faculty, graduate students, and A&AA community members to partner in a broad, interdisciplinary conversation about human-environment interactions. Many of us in AAA are working on sustainable design and planning strategies and/or engaging in broadly defined teaching, research, and creative practices that seek to shed light on environmental issues from multiple perspectives, including not just what we do, but what we value, think, or feel in relation to environment/nature/place. These multiple cultural and practical perspectives in turn impact how we imagine and design our futures. The intention of this RIG is primarily to share research interests across disciplines, but also to nurture opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and education around these shared interests.
