Frequently Asked Questions
What is a podcast? A podcast is a web feed of audio and/or video on the Internet for anyone to subscribe to. Podcasters' websites may offer direct downloads of the audio files, but the subscription feed of automatically delivered new content is what distinguishes a podcast from a simple download or real-time streaming.
Do I need an iPod to listen to a podcast? No. iPods are excellent for taking your digital audio tracks with you on the go, but aren't required to listen to podcasts. A computer with iTunes (or similar podcast/media player software) can work just as well. What if I can't connect? Please check your Internet connection. A simple test would be to visit http://www.uoregon.edu (University of Oregon's website) and click-through a few links. If you do not encounter any problems, you have an active Internet connection. If this is the case, and you are still unable to connect to a particular podcast or streaming audio file, it is possible that the A&AA Podcast website has reached its maximum user download allowance. Though we try to provide the resources necessary to support our large user base, it is possible that technical difficulties of this nature will occur during peak periods of a term. Please report any technical difficulties to: podcast@uoregon.edu. |
