Collaborative Techniques to Advance Organizational Goals
Please bring a bag lunch and join us for a lecture by Guest Presenter Bob Kaminski. Talk description: How do you reach a decision with a diverse group of stakeholders? What is an alternative to majority rule or executive order? Participants will use weighted decision-making to identify and agree upon a proposal that addresses a relevant issue to a community/performing arts group or museum. A sampling of facilitation skills and materials will be used to demonstrate how to incorporate divergent views, manage group tension, and advance a groups best thinking. How an organization makes a decision is critical to its life, ethics and shared vision. Weighted decision-making is preferred when a leader wants an outcome that involves all stakeholders and advances a groups best thinking, especially when not everyone is expected to buy-in at the same level. When stakeholders understand how decisions are made, and know their views and ideas will be heard, they are more likely to support rather than sabotage a final proposal.
